Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 June 2026 · rankd.com
1. Who we are
Rankd ("we", "us") operates rankd.com, a global ladder that ranks gamers by combining gaming performance and social signals. This Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to the website, accounts, forums, and any Rankd apps that link to it.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your email address, and if you sign in with Google or Apple, the name, email, and profile image those providers share with us.
- Profile information: your chosen gamertag, display name, profile image you upload, country/region, and the platform handles you link (e.g. Twitch, Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, Riot, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Reddit, Facebook).
- Community content: forum posts, comments, reactions, reports you submit, moderator applications, and messages you send us.
Information we collect from gaming and social platforms
- For handles you link, we collect publicly available statistics used by the ranking engine, for example follower counts, viewer figures, match and ranked-mode statistics, activity history, and competitive results. We collect this from public sources and official platform APIs where available.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data: pages viewed, features used, searches, referral source, approximate (city-level) location derived from IP address.
- Device dataIP address, browser type, operating system, screen size, and language.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see section 8.
3. How we use information
- To operate the service: create your account, compute and display your Rankd Score and position (rankings are recomputed daily at 00:00 UTC), run the forums, and show leaderboards.
- To send service emails, sign-in links, security notices, and (if you opt in) rank-change notifications and community digests. You can opt out of non-essential email at any time.
- To run automated moderation and the automated moderator-application review described in our Terms.
- To detect and prevent ranking manipulation, spam, abuse, and security incidents.
- To measure and improve the product, and to show and measure advertising (section 7).
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. What is public by design
Rankd is a public ladder. The following are visible to anyone: your gamertag, profile image, rank, tier, score movement, linked-platform badges you choose to display, and anything you post in the forums. Do not put information in these places that you don't want public. Your email address and account credentials are never public.
5. Public-figure leaderboard data
Pre-launch and editorial leaderboards may display well-known players, streamers, and creators using publicly reported information (such as published follower counts and tournament prize figures). This is processed in the public interest of commentary and information. If you are listed and want your entry corrected or removed, contact privacy@rankd.com and we will action it promptly.
6. Who we share information with
- Service providers (processors) who run infrastructure for us, currently web hosting (Hostinger), our backend platform for authentication, database, and file storage (Supabase), and a transactional email provider. They process data only on our instructions.
- Sign-in providers: if you use Google or Apple sign-in, those providers process your sign-in under their own privacy policies.
- Advertising partners: see section 7.
- Legal and safety: where required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect users and the public.
- Business transfers: if Rankd is acquired or merges, data may transfer to the successor under this Policy.
We do not sell your personal information.
7. Advertising
- Rankd is advertising-supported. We may show contextual advertising (based on the page you're viewing) and, where permitted and consented, interest-based advertising delivered by third-party ad partners.
- Ad partners may use cookies or similar technologies to measure ads and limit repetition. Where the law requires (for example in the EU/UK), interest-based advertising cookies are only set with your consent via the cookie banner.
- Sponsored leaderboards and placements are labelled. Advertisers never receive your email address or private account data from us.
8. Cookies
- Essential cookies: keep you signed in and the site secure. These are always on.
- Analytics cookies: help us understand which features are used so we can improve the product.
- Advertising cookies: support ad delivery and measurement, used only where permitted or consented.
You can control cookies in your browser settings and, where shown, through our consent banner. Blocking essential cookies may break sign-in.
9. How long we keep information
We keep account data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within 30 days, except where we must retain it for legal, security, or anti-abuse reasons. Forum posts may be retained in de-identified form (author shown as "deleted user") to preserve conversation threads. Backups roll off on a fixed schedule.
10. Security
We protect data with encryption in transit, access controls, row-level database security, and the security programs of our infrastructure providers. No internet service can guarantee absolute security; if a breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify you and the relevant regulator as required by law (including Australia's Notifiable Data Breaches scheme).
11. Your rights and choices
- Everyone: access, correct, download, or delete your data from your account settings, or by emailing us. You can unsubscribe from non-essential email with one click.
- Australia: you may complain to us, and if unresolved, to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
- EU/UK (GDPR): you may exercise rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, and lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. Our legal bases are contract (running your account), legitimate interests (security, product improvement, public-interest commentary), consent (marketing and non-essential cookies), and legal obligation.
- California (CCPA/CPRA): you may request to know, delete, and correct, and you will not be discriminated against for exercising rights. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as defined by the CPRA; if that changes, we will provide the required opt-outs first.
12. Children
Rankd is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
13. International transfers
We are based in Australia and our service providers may store data in other countries (including the United States and the EU). Where data leaves your region we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, provided by our processors.
14. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy as the product evolves. The "Last updated" date shows the current version, and material changes will be announced on the site before they take effect.
