Wow, I just rewatched this classic in HD recently and I have to admit there's alot of gore. I remember watching it as a kid and rewatching it and actually understanding more of it has really left me impressed with this movie. I didn't realize how violent it was, and it has a pretty solid story for a sci-fi flick. It's too bad they destroyed the franchise with robocop 3 (which btw is a total joke and doesnt even have the original actor playing robocop). Thumbs up for robocop 1!
I'll grant that RoboCop #1 was a good movie. Not one of my favorites personally but a decent movie with lost of good gore from start to finish. The plot is a little far fetched but its one of those movies you watch, knowing what your getting yourself involved with.
The major fault with the with this movie was that they tried to make sequels. It really has very little staying power, where some older movies (i.e. Rocky, Star Wars, etc.) get better with age, this one doesn't hold up particularly well.
