I'm a windows user myself and am yet to make the switch to mac, though I am considering it. I do have some major quarrels with iTunes but they fall more in the way of how apple devices are synced and managed rather then with the player itself. As far as the software goes, I like it. It's easy to search through and to create new ways in which to listen to your music.
My only problem with the software is that there really isn't a whole lot out there for competing products. Granted this may seem like a small thing, but consider this; it's easy to be the top student in your class if all the other kids ride the short bus to school.
coming from windows... i hated itunes at first. i wasn't well adapted to its way of "taking over" your music collection and organizing it the apple/itunes way. after using it for 1-2 months, and in conjunction with an ipod/iphone, it's become my favorite player/music manager. it really lets you slice up your music collection however you want, or leave it alone and let it play through hours and hours of tunes. i will say, on behalf of others i've convinced to switch to mac... there should be some ability to turn off apple's album/artist management. i know that is a very broad statement, but many friends of mine still *love* managing their music manually, in folders, and double-clicking to open in winamp. I suppose this could be done with Quicktime, but itunes needs a way to let people manage singles and live sets better.
whats up with not being able to put the artist all the way to the left? i mean, doesn't that make the most sense? I don't get that. You read left to right, why would u want the song first? they need to change that. you can move everything else around accept the left side.
