Great effects, great CGI, great acti... oh wait, there were like 3 actual people in the movie, aside from extras. *That's* why the movie was so boring. It was basically like Will Smith and his dog, wandering around an empty city, occasionally running into monsters. And then it ended; badly. I had high hopes for this as well. Sorry... very disappointed.
Ok, I was really looking forward to this flick, and for the first 40 minutes it was awesome. Then a few bad choices were made. First, the dog is killed. Are you kidding me?! Why the dog? Secondly, the monsters looked so cheesy? I didn't like how wide open their jaws were; it was like the Mummy. Why could they climb walls, and why were they bullet proof, and super fast? The movie would have been better if it used more suspense, and waited until close to the end to show a cooler, not-so difital monster.
Will Smith is the man, so he did a good job, but the ending stunk too. It was different from every previous version of this film, including the book. They couldn've gone a lot of ways with it, but it turned out to be only an ok flick.
When I saw this in the theaters I thought it was OK, I found it generally entertaining, but also thought the ending sucked.
Then I saw an alternate ending online about a month ago and it completely turned it around for me. The different ending was 100x better, and made it a completely different movie.
I'm not sure if the other ending is on the DVD, probably is, but if you search for it I'm sure you can find it somewhere.
I had high hopes for this movie and it fell a little short of what I had hoped for. Don't get me wrong, I liked the movie a lot and would enjoy seeing it another time. Just seeing a ruined New York city was really cool.
Where they lost me was towards the end with the super zombie death ninjas. When Will Smith emptied an entire magazine from and M4 at one and hit f***ing nothing.
That part was lame, but over all it was pretty good. Not great and not really true to the book but a good over all movie that I would totally recomend.
that is because the original ending is actually intellectual and doesn't have an exploding grenade in it. Americans did not like the original ending, so blame us.
Just watched the original ending...pretty good, except I forget the theatrical one now so it's tough to compare. I do remember when I saw it in the theater, the ending ruined the entire movie for me, so this automatically gets my vote.
