rankd is a social ratings and reviews website, which allows users to rate and discuss almost anything. Users can create new items that do not already exist and add them to their collection of items (their "stuff"). The site will then determine what the community perceives to be "the best" items. Users can add other users as friends to track new items they create or comments they post to learn about their interests and opinions.

A few hardworking individuals who try very hard to find an ounce of free time to devote to this project, while attempting to maintain an eventful and exhausting lifestyle.

Yes, however at this time we cannot guarantee that the website will function or render correctly on a mobile device as rankd uses modern web technologies that are not supported by most mobile browsers. We hope to introduce a mobile version of the site in the near future.

The rankd.com website is currently invite-only. This means you will have to find a friend who is already using rankd to send you an invitation code, or wait until rankd opens registration to the public!

Invitation codes can be generated by users of rankd, if they have invites available to give out. If you've received an invitation via e-mail, copy and paste the code into the registration form and create your account today! Invitations are also (more rarely) given out at events and other public gatherings by persons close to the rankd project, or crazed fans, in the form of tiny cards with codes on the back.

Copy the invitation code in the e-mail and paste it into the invitation code field on the registration page. Complete the rest of the form and create your account! NOTE: Invitation codes typically expire within 48 hours from when they were issued, so act fast.

From time to time, we distribute invites to existing users of rankd, which they can send to their friends. Invites are issued based on website traffic, upcoming events, a user's general contribution to the site, and our available capacity. The number of invitations you have available to give out appears at the top right of your screen when you log in. If you have invites available, click the gold link and enter your friend's e-mail address to invite them to rankd!

Items are created by users. An item can be a cell phone, video game, movie, or any other type from our list of item types. Each item is represented by an icon, and has its own ratings and discussions page.

Your stuff is your own personal collection of items. To access it, view your profile and click the "Stuff" tab. Items that you create are automatically added to your stuff, and you can browse and add items that other users create. Add items to your stuff that you like, own, or interact with.

You can add items to your stuff by clicking the button next to items you wish to add.

You can remove items from your stuff by clicking the button to the right of items you wish to remove.

At this time, you cannot change an item's icon once it is created. If you made a mistake when creating an item or see an item that needs some icon lovin', please contact us and we'll fix it.

Anyone in the world can view your profile, stuff, recent comments, and list of friends, if they have your username. Use the following conventions to create your personalized links:

Hover over an item and click on its icon to navigate to that item's ratings and discussions page. Here you can see all of the criteria (or "rateables") that you can rate for that particular item. Move your mouse over the desired number of stars for a given rateable and click to submit a rating. NOTE: You must be logged in to rate items.

Click the gray button to the right of the rating stars to remove a rating.

A rating will be automatically calculated for items that have been rated by enough users. The rating will be displayed on a silver flag ( ). Rankings will be calculated for the best items of a given type, and displayed on a red flag ( ). New items will not show any flags until enough users rate them!

The rankd.com website uses the ratings that users submit, and a variety of continually evolving metrics to determine an item's rating or ranking. The rankd algorithms crunch numbers every minute to keep ratings and rankings current. We continue to make tweaks so that ratings and rankings best represent the voice of the community.

Never!. We take this seriously. We will never manually override or remove a rating or ranking for an item. You have our guarantee that the results you see truly represent the voice of the community.

Hover over an item and click on its icon to navigate to that item's ratings and discussions page. Click the "Add comment" link beneath the item's name to post a comment. You can reply to a particular comment by clicking the "Reply" link below and to the right of that comment. NOTE: You must be logged in to post comments.

Click on the "Reply" link below and to the right of any comment to post a reply.

Thumbs ( and ) allow you to "agree" or "disagree" with a particular comment. Click a thumb to agree or disagree. Remember, once you click a thumb you can't change it! NOTE: You must be logged in to thumb comments.

rankd periodically reorders comments for items based on how many users agree or disagree to keep the most useful comments on top.

A comment may be automatically removed if too many users disagree with it. If the comment had replies, they are removed as well. Comments can also be removed by rankd if they violate our Terms of Use.

Click on your username in the top right-hand corner to view your profile. Click the "Edit profile" link to make changes.

rankd uses your friendship network to keep you in the loop about what your friends are up to. Admittedly, we aren't leveraging the power of friendships as well as we could be, but as you continue to build your network of friends, we hope to provide more customized features which you will be able to take advantage of.

Once logged in, click on a user's username to view their profile, and click the "Add as friend" link on the right-hand side.

Click on your username in the top right-hand corner to view your profile, and click the "Friends" tab. Click the red button to remove a friend from your friends list. NOTE: Users will not receive any explicit notification that you've removed them from your friends list.

In order to contribute, you must register an account and log in. Registration is currently invite-only while we continue to make changes and tweaks to the website.

Please contact us and provide a URL to the item and we'll fix it as soon as possible!
